Market Drivers:
Gold GLD did have a great day but then slid as diplomatic optimism takes over. After reaching recent highs, gold reversed course, falling now as much as -1.2% in Asia trading, with safe-haven demand cooling. It is bouncing again though, what a wild ride for Gold!
PLTR pulled back today, closing down -12% after a strong earnings report yesterday. Even with solid numbers, some traders took profits, causing a dip. The classic “buy the rumor, sell the news” move. Still one to watch!
Futures surge overnight: Markets are higher after China officially confirmed a high-level trade meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent, following remarks from Lutnick and Trade Rep Greer pointing toward a de-escalation tone. /ES S&P 500 Futures were over +1% in overnight trading but now only +0.50% and fading.
PM Carney at the White House: PM of Canada Mark Carney met with President Trump to discuss global financial coordination, signaling the administration’s commitment to market stability during ongoing trade developments. This also helped stocks rally mid-day, but then faded into the close.
🌍 Geo Watch:
Big moves overseas - India hit back hard with “Operation Sindoor” after a deadly terror attack in April, saying “Justice is Served” on X. Pakistan fired back, calling it an “act of war.” Tensions are heating up fast. For traders, this kind of news matters - global drama like this can shake up markets and spike volatility, especially in emerging economies.
